In honour of the global prominence of India’s film industry, Apple has launched its first ‘Shot on iPhone’ film in the country. The film is in partnership with world renowned director, Vishal Bhardwaj.
The film, ‘Fursat’, is an epic musical love story wrapped in the past, present and future. The spot features original music and choreography through trains, ancient cities, deserts and motorbikes, all of which are beautifully shot on iPhone.
The film follows Nishant and Diya, who are in love but Nishant struggles to prove it to Diya. He is distracted by his obsession with a magical relic ‘Doordarshak’, would allow him to see into the future - if only he could get it to work.
One of India’s most well known poets, Gulzar, provides lyrics for the spot which is the first end-to-end musical shot on iPhone and stars Ishaan Khattar and Wamiqa Gabi.
It’s a race against time as Nishant’s tries to save Diya by jumping from the past, present and future whilst intertwined with theatrical dance performances.
Ultimately, Diya, an intelligent and quick-thinking doctor, saves them all. Nishant and Diya realise their obsessions with the future and past do not matter as their love is true, real and present.
The 30-minute film is accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video that highlights how the compact nature of iPhone, paired with the robust features of Action mode, made it easy for Bhardwaj to capture the world's first end-to-end musical on iPhone.
Vishal Bhardwaj, director said, "The mood we've achieved is because of the combination of iPhone's strengths, which is not possible to achieve on a normal film camera. I've never had this kind of scale in my film ever before. I thought this is the film in which leaves, wind, snow, mist, fog… let's use everything."
Swapnil Sonawane, director of photography said, "From the extreme toplight that we shot in the desert to the low light that we subjected it to, I think it performed phenomenally well."
'Fursat' will appear on YouTube, digital, and social media.
